According to UN datum, India has a population of 1.380 Billion and is counted as the 7th largest country in the world. Though covering 17.7% of the total population, India ranks fourth in the renewable energy market of the world. Also, India has a Renewable energy potential of 1000+ GW. India is doing great in Renewable Energy and hence Top Renewable Energy Companies in India are Worth Checking Out.

Full Map of India

The country is involved in extending the use of clean energy sources and has already initiated several large-scale sustainable energy projects to secure a massive growth of green energy.

Specifically, India remains just behind China and the U.S because BP’s Statistical Review of World Energy states that India’s primary energy consumption scores 809.2 million tons of oil.

Moreover, the Indian renewable energy sector has maturely been considered more charming for foreign and domestic investors. The Government of India has anchored the aim of installing 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by the end of 2022 and 450 GW by 2030. It includes 100 GW from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-power, and 5 GW from small hydro-power. (Source: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy MNRE)

What are the major resources of renewable energy in India?

The major resources of Renewable Energy in India are Wind Power, Solar Power, and Biomass Power. Till 30 November 2020, the total installed capacity for Renewables is 90 GW.

Wind energy is taken as the most efficient alternative to energy resources. It has increased by 1.7 times in the last 4 years. In addition to that, the wind turbines have become more generous, availabilities have updated and the wind farm concept has become familiar. If combined with solar, a total self-sustainability project could be generated.

India stands as the fourth-highest wind installed capacity in the world which has generated about 52.66 Billion units during 2017-2018. The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has connected over 800 wind-monitoring stations all over India and published wind potential maps at 50m, 80m, and 100m above ground level.

Despite that, Solar power appears in having immense potential energy that can be controlled using a variety of devices. The rapid growth in technologies has made solar solutions quick. This is being available for domestic and industrial use with plenty of advantages.

Recently, India achieved 5th global position in solar power deployment by surpassing Italy. Solar power capacity has increased by more than 11 times in the last five years from 2.6 GW in March 2014 to 30 GW in July 2019.

Following Biomass Energy,  the government committed to increasing the share of non-fossils fuel in total capacity to 40% by 2030. India produces about 450-500 million tonnes of biomass per year. Biomass provides 32% of all the primary energy use in the country at present. A total capacity of 10145 MW has been installed in the Biomass Power and Cogeneration Sector. The Installed Capacity of Biomass IPP is 1826 MW together with the Installed Capacity of Bagasse Cogeneration is 7547 MW and the Installed Capacity of Non-Bagasse Cogeneration is 772 MW.

How much of India’s energy is produced by renewable energy companies in India?

The Government of India has set the aim of installing 175 GW of renewable power by 2022. This shows that the Government of India is constantly bound to increasing the use of clean energy sources. According to the sources, the projects are being undertaken to promote green energy in India. Apart from the government, Private companies are overtaking the production of power generating assets.

Due to the heavy production, India’s renewable energy sector expects to draw investment worth $80 Billion in the upcoming years. It is because 49% of electricity will be generated through renewable powers. As a result, 66% of the total solar energy cost will be reduced as compared to the current cost. Also, coal will be replaced chiefly. This will save up to US $8.43 billion annually. Renewable energy will account for 55% of the total installed power capacity by 2030.

While the Private Renewable energy company ReNew Power and Shapoorji Pallonji is working on a large floating solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. They will be investing around US $0.11 Billion in a 150 MW. Similarly, Tata Power has recently announced plans to develop a 100 MW in Dholera solar park in Gujarat. Massive investments are being made in the renewable sectors by private organizations. The competition is at its peak. For now, Adani Group is focusing on being the World’s largest solar company by 2025 and the biggest renewable energy firm by 2030.

Conclusion

The Government of India has been constantly bound on increasing the use of clean energy sources. This does increase a better future and at the same time creates employment opportunities too. According to The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s total installed capacity of renewable energy is 90 GW excluding hydropower. Also, it states that 27.41 GW will be added. Renewable Energy in India is a great asset to Energy Contribution yet India still needs to work a lot in Renewable Energy Sectors.
